Gastro Health is seeking a Full-Time Lead Histology Technician to join our team!

Duties you will be responsible for:

  • Work with the Medical Director, pathologists, histotechs and laboratory assistants to maintain expected turnaround times.
  • Maintain histotech schedules.
  • Provide guidance to histotechs and lab assistants; mentor and train new personnel when needed.
  • Maintain current knowledge of changes in laboratory procedures.
  • Adhere to all established requirements that pertain to testing, laboratory personnel and safety as established by the department.
  • Check all maintenance charts for deviations and errors; maintain quality assurance checks, logs and reports.
  • Perform required laboratory validations (lots, reagents, etc.)
  • Be knowledgeable of all aspects of the department. Be able to perform all aspects of the laboratory process.
  • Trouble-shoot laboratory equipment and instrumentation; contact service providers as necessary
  • Fill in as the Safety Officer when needed.
  • Perform all job related duties assigned by the Medical director and pathologists.

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.S degree or equivalent combination of education, experience and certification
  • HT (ASCP) certification and a minimum of 7 years experience
  • Familiar with histology instrumentation, including staining instruments, coverslippers, tissue processors embedding and cutting equipment
  • Prior experience in a CAP accredited laboratory is highly desirable
